Thomas Massie has been mocked by critics on social media after he didn’t call President Trump a “co-conspirator” of Jeffrey Epstein, RadarOnline.com reports.
The Kentucky Republican spoke on the House floor in Washington, D.C., on Monday, August 31, and named 14 people as Epstein’s “co-conspirators” who he said should be looked into and punished.
Critics were upset because Trump wasn’t on the list.
Some people on social media said, “Hey bud, you forgot to start by naming Donald Trump,” and another added, “Didn’t say Trump.Why not?”
One user said, “Don’t forget Don the Con,” and a commentator noted, “You missed Donald Trump!
The most notorious.”
During his speech, Massie also started a petition to get the House to vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act II.
This law would give more access to federal Epstein records for victims, members of Congress, and state prosecutors.It would also allow new legal actions over information the Justice Department has hidden or changed.
Massie’s petition needs 218 House votes to move forward.
Trump, who was seen with Epstein on several occasions, has denied being close to him, even though he once called Epstein a “terrific guy.” The two were reportedly close between the 1980s and 2000s, as they were part of the same wealthy and powerful social circles in Manhattan.
Epstein’s home in Palm Beach was close to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club, where Trump often stayed.
Biographer Michael Wolff, who wrote Fire and Fury with input from Epstein, said Epstein was worried about Trump.
On his podcast, Wolff said, “Epstein was utterly preoccupied with Trump, and I think, frankly, afraid of him.”
In a 2017 interview with Epstein, Wolff remembered: “When Epstein and I were talking about this, Trump was now the president of the United States, and I think frightening.
Because the most inappropriate person to be the president of the United States was probably Donald Trump.”
“But I couldn’t help but feel that there was a level of personal fear there,” Wolff said.
As for Massie, who once called the White House the “Epstein administration,” he has been in a public fight with Trump in the last few months.
Massie, 55, is one of the few Republicans who has openly spoken out against Trump and some of his controversial actions.
In May, Trump supported Ed Gallrein in the GOP House primary against Massie.
Gallrein, who said he would back Trump, accused Massie of helping the “radical left” over Republicans.
Trump also called Massie a “disloyal, ungracious and sanctimonious FOOL, who almost never votes for even the best of Republican Values.”
Massie is not alone in his fight with Trump.
He has also been supported by former MAGA figure Marjorie Taylor Greene and Tucker Carlson.
