This strange comment comes after Ford called Trump a “dictator,” “bully,” and “the king of bankruptcies.” Ford said, “Well, he can kiss my ass, as far as I’m concerned.
We need to throw everything and the kitchen sink at him.He’s arrogant.He’s cocky.”
The harsh comment was a response to the Trump administration hurting the relationship with Canada, our closest ally, after trade talks broke down last Friday.
The White House put 50% tariffs on many Canadian imports, and Canada responded by putting tariffs of their own.
This silly idea to rename Lake Ontario is like jangling keys in front of a baby’s face for the MAGA crowd.
It’s just a lazy repeat of what he did with the Gulf of Mexico, and unfortunately, these Republican supporters are already buying into it.Our country is falling apart, Trump still hasn’t solved his failed war with Iran, the economy is in a bad shape, and now our country is being run by a leader who is focused on meaningless name changes.
To put it plainly, Canada couldn’t care less what name Trump picks for his map.
Canada and the rest of the world will just keep calling it Lake Ontario.
As stupid as this idea is, it shows how well Trump understands his base.
They don’t care if their lives get worse by every measure because of his bad leadership, as long as they can shout “USA” at his rallies and engage in thoughtless hatred of other countries.
In a follow-up post, Trump attacked Prime Minister Mark Carney for saying that during the failed negotiations, White House officials wanted to take away Quebec’s unique identity by attacking French language programs.
As always with these MAGA supporters, cultural issues are the main priority.Understandably, the Canadians saw these strange requests as an attack on their independence and a form of imperialism.

Of course, if Trump is denying something, it usually means it’s true.
We have no reason to doubt Carney on this issue and every reason to think Trump is lying again.
And again, it cannot be stressed enough how deeply stupid this entire trade war is.
There’s nothing to be gained and the American people are already struggling from the fallout of the Iran War.Once again, Trump has put his boot on our collective neck.
