Former Rep.Marjorie Taylor Greene sent a strong warning to every member of the Trump administration who might run for president in 2028.In a long post on X on Wednesday morning, she said anyone who supported President Trump’s actions in Iran, didn’t talk about the Epstein files, or didn’t apologize for rising inflation and gas prices would not be trusted by voters.
Greene, a Georgia Republican who left Congress in January after a public disagreement with Trump, posted the statement on her account, @FmrRepMTG, at 8:55 a.m.
on August 5, 2026.She connected three main issues she has been talking about since she left office — the U.S.military campaign against Iran, how the Epstein files were handled, and the rising cost of living — into a direct message to possible 2028 Republican candidates.
The full text of Greene’s post reads as follows:
“Any member of the Trump admin that wants to run for POTUS in 28 who has defended Trump’s war in Iran and not spoken out against it publicly, has stood with the admin on the coverup of the Epstein files, and refuses to publicly apologize to the American people for the creating more inflation and high gas prices with the Iran war, will not be trusted.
64% of Americans are against the Iran war, and it is a complete betrayal of campaign promises.
The Epstein files are still not fully released, which has been one of the biggest issues the American people demanded in recent history.
Lowering cost of living and gas prices was a key campaign promise that had been completely broken because of Trump’s Iran war making costs of living even worse for the American people.
You won’t get to walk out on 2028 presidential stages with your anti-neocon tough talk and try to tell us this time will be different because all we will see is your blood stains from 18 US service members and children of the Minab girls school.
We won’t believe you when you claim to bring transparency and accountability because the Epstein victims will still be crying out demanding the Epstein files and justice they never received.
And if you utter the phrase America First claiming to focus on a domestic agenda, we will laugh at you because your pockets are lined with AIPAC, MIC, and other corporate pac dollars that always fight against putting regular Americans first.
YOU are in power right now.
End the war and bring our beloved troops home immediately.
Release the files and prosecute pedophiles and rapists, even if they are your donors and friends.
And put 100% of your focus on domestic issues that lower inflation, costs of groceries, and gas and energy prices for the American people.
We no longer live in the failed two party system and will no longer be controlled by it.
Both parties, no matter who is in charge, put us in deeper debt, continue to ruin the value of our hard earned dollars, and always drag us into foreign war after foreign war that feed the debt, ruin the dollar, and kill people.

Greene cited a 64 percent public opinion that the war with Iran is not worth the risks, which matches recent polls.
A survey by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research in early July found 64 percent of U.S.adults thought the conflict with Iran was not worth the risk, with only 33 percent saying it was.Trump’s approval rating on how he handled the conflict was just 28 percent.A Reuters/Ipsos poll the same week also found only 33 percent of Americans supported the war — the lowest since the conflict began five months earlier — with 69 percent saying Trump didn’t clearly explain his goals.
Greene mentioned the Minab girls’ school, referring to civilian casualties from the U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Iran, which the administration called Operation Epic Fury after attacks started in late February 2026.
This operation, along with the deaths of American troops, has become a recurring point of conflict in her public disagreement with the administration.
This isn’t the first time Greene has warned Trump allies about the war’s political risks.
In February 2026, she wrote on X that “Americans do not want to go to war with Iran!!!” and argued voters chose Trump because they wanted “NO MORE FOREIGN WARS AND NO MORE REGIME CHANGE.” After the attacks began, she called the deaths of U.S.service members “absolutely unnecessary” and accused Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and the rest of the administration of breaking promises to put “America FIRST.”
In April, as the war continued, Greene even called for Trump’s removal from office under the 25th Amendment.
She wrote, “Not a single bomb has dropped on America.We cannot kill an entire civilization.This is evil and madness,” after Trump claimed in a Truth Social post that Iran’s “civilization will die tonight.”
Wednesday’s post didn’t name specific people, but it clearly targeted two top Trump cabinet members seen as possible 2028 candidates: Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Both have publicly supported the Iran war, even though they hold different positions within the administration’s messaging.
Vance, a former Marine Corps veteran of the Iraq War, campaigned in 2024 on being skeptical of foreign military interventions.
Before the conflict started, he said a war with Iran would be a big distraction and costly.But once the strikes began, he defended the operation, even accusing a reporter of trying to create a rift between him and Trump when asked if he was fully on board with the war.Trump himself said Vance was “maybe less enthusiastic” at first but “was quite enthusiastic” once the war began.
Rubio, on the other hand, has been the most vocal pro-war voice in the administration.
He once called the war “a favor” to the U.S.and the world during a Cabinet meeting.As Secretary of State, he has repeatedly defended the mission in State Department briefings and congressional testimony, saying the campaign had met its goals by weakening Iran’s defense system and missile capabilities.
Rubio has also rejected the idea that the U.S.
response has been too harsh, telling reporters in a July press briefing that the operation had significantly reduced Iran’s ability to threaten shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Political analysts are already seeing the difference in Vance’s and Rubio’s stances as a key part of the upcoming 2028 primary race.
Curt Mills, executive director of The American Conservative, told the Associated Press it’s “very obvious” that the two men have “different casts of mind” when discussing the war.
Greene’s recent post also brings in the Epstein files issue.
She was one of the few House Republicans who broke with leadership last year to push for the release of the files on Epstein by the Department of Justice.She has criticized the administration for being slow and incomplete in releasing those documents.In a May post on X, she called the Pentagon’s release of UFO-related files “shiny object propaganda” meant to distract from the Epstein files and the rising cost of gas during the war.
The White House has responded strongly to Greene’s criticism before.
In February, White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Fox News Digital that “President Trump’s strong and decisive leadership has already ended eight wars and saved countless lives,” and called Greene a “former congresswoman, traitor, and a quitter.” At the time of this post, the White House, Vance’s office, and Rubio’s office had not issued a public reply.
