BREAKING: A Top Republican Just Turned on Mitch McConnell’s Team Over a Morbid Scam!

Sen.Mitch McConnell (R-KY) shared two photos from the hospital to prove he’s still alive, as there’s been a lot of talk about his health getting worse.

But Steve Schmidt, a former GOP advisor who now works with the Lincoln Project, isn’t buying it.
He told Joanna Coles on The Daily Beast Podcast that he thinks there’s a cover-up happening.

“Here’s my advice to Mitch McConnell’s team: get lawyers,” Schmidt said.
“I think this is a fraud that’s being done to the taxpayer and whatever laws apply.I think there’s a good chance what they’re doing is illegal.I don’t think Mitch McConnell is alive…I don’t think he’s even conscious.”

McConnell, who used to be the leader of the Senate Republicans and was a big name in politics, was taken to the hospital a few weeks ago after a cardiac arrest.
His staff say he’s recovering but say he’s far from being back to work.

Schmidt says the bottom line is, “I don’t think Mitch McConnell is walking out of the hospital.”

Under Kentucky law, which was recently passed by Republicans, Governor Andy Beshear, a Democrat, wouldn’t be able to name someone to take over if McConnell dies.
Instead, there would have to be a special election right away.

Beshear has been asked by some Democratic supporters to push harder for proof that McConnell is still alive, but Schmidt says people need to be realistic.

“You can’t just show up at the hospital and say, ‘It’s me, Andy Beshear, governor of the Commonwealth, let me in the room,’” Schmidt said.
“And by the way, Andy Beshear isn’t in the political party that wants to be in your hospital room at the moment of birth or death; they just peek through the bedroom window.”
