Former Rep.Marjorie Taylor Greene strongly criticized Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth after he called U.S.soldiers killed in the Iran conflict a “sacrifice.” This sparked more public disagreement between her and the Trump administration over how the war is being handled.
The argument started when Hegseth shared a message about two American soldiers who died in Jordan.
He said, “Godspeed, heroes.Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve.” He posted this on X.
Greene responded with anger, saying Hegseth was wrong to call their deaths a sacrifice.
She argued that the soldiers were killed because of a war she thinks the Trump administration started to help Israel.
She wrote on X, “Sacrifice??
What the f* are you talking about??They did not willingly sacrifice themselves.They were killed because of the war you, Trump and the admin, are waging on behalf of a FOREIGN COUNTRY, Israel.”
She added, “You mean their deaths fuel your bloodlust for a senseless war.”
According to U.S.
Central Command, the two soldiers died while protecting against attacks by Iranian drones and missiles.Another soldier was missing but later confirmed dead.A few others were hurt but were released after being treated.
Greene also criticized the Trump administration for how it’s managing the war.
She warned that the war has grown beyond its original goals.
“This war was started for Israel and is now all about the Strait of Hormuz and control of oil.
And there seems to be no end in sight, with the bombing now including power facilities and desalination plants in Iran and Kuwait.Countless innocent people’s lives will be at risk without power and especially water,” she said.
Greene, who used to be a top Trump supporter, has been more critical of his administration since she left Congress in January.
Her comments are similar to what other conservative figures like Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly have said, accusing the Trump administration of supporting Israel in the war.Trump has denied these claims.

Vance has also spoken about how Israel might be influencing U.S.policy.On “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, he said, “There are some people within [the Israeli government’s] system, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt, who are manipulating and trying to change American public opinion to keep the war going on indefinitely.”
Since U.S.
and Israeli attacks on Tehran began in February, 18 American soldiers have been killed, according to the Associated Press.Greene had previously warned in May that sending U.S.troops to Iran would cause “a political revolution in America.”
