“It’s the most exciting election season in Iowa that I’ve ever covered,” said Laura Belin, the progressive behind the “Bleeding Heartland” website.
She was talking about more than just the race to replace retiring MAGA Senator Joni Ernst.
She was also referring to the governor’s race, and she called both races “competitive.”
On the “On the Ground” podcast, she said, “The Senate race, when we talked last time, was seen as a safe win for the Republicans.
But now the election forecasters have changed their view, and they think it leans Republican, and I agree with that. But just this week, a poll showed Josh Turek a little ahead, so I can tell you that Republicans are really worried about Ashley Hinson in that Senate race.”
If Republicans lose in Iowa, it would be a huge blow for their party.
Trump won the state by 13 points in 2024.Then he went back to the White House and did a lot of harmful things, like putting too many tariffs on agriculture, hiding the Epstein files, and starting a bad war with Iran that hurt innocent people.
And the Democratic Senate nominee, Josh Turek, is a real standout.
He’s a member of the Iowa House of Representatives and a Paralympic gold medalist who uses a wheelchair. He was born with spina bifida because his father was exposed to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War.He knows firsthand how bad policies can hurt people. He’ll be a strong voice for Iowans in the Senate!”
