Donald Trump talked about his administration stopping investigations into crypto corruption during a meeting in the Oval Office on Monday. This comes as he is being questioned for making $1.4 billion from crypto projects since he came back into the presidency.
The New York Times reported that almost a million people who bought the $TRUMP memecoin lost $3.81 billion.
Trump himself made over $600 million from selling these coins.Additionally, he made $800 million from World Liberty Financial in 2025, a crypto company he started with his sons.
The report said that since Trump began pushing for crypto in 2024, he and his appointees have reduced rules on the industry, including those for memecoins.
At the Oval Office event on Monday, Trump gave himself credit for supporting the crypto industry, which he used to oppose.
“We’re way ahead of China in this.
We’re ahead of everyone.Crypto is the same.If we didn’t do it, China would. It’s a huge industry,” Trump said.“When I became really pro-crypto, Biden was against it.He didn’t know what crypto was.He didn’t have a clue. They were very against it.They were putting people in jail! What they were doing to crypto was really bad.”
Trump added, “Crypto has a big audience.
So, yeah, I’m really for crypto. It’s not just a personal thing.I let my kids do whatever they want.I don’t talk to them about it — ever.I’m allowed to, I think.I’m allowed to, but I don’t bother, because this office is a much higher calling.”
