Republican Rep. Nancy Mace from South Carolina has been in the news a lot because of a series of strange and awkward situations. Her most recent move in Congress was a proposed law that would remove all foreign-born members of Congress, especially targeting Rep. Ilhan Omar, whom she dislikes for being a Black Muslim woman.
But here’s the twist—Nancy Mace will be the one leaving Congress, not Ilhan.
Mace finished fifth in the primary for South Carolina governor and won’t be returning to Congress because she had to step down to run for the job.
On Twitter, she said, “I’m going back to the private sector at the end of this term, as the Founders intended.
When I ran in 2020, I said I’d only serve three terms, and my time is up. It’s been an honor, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” she wrote. But she conveniently didn’t mention she left to run for another position, not because she was following any principles.
Ilhan Omar couldn’t help but respond with a funny tweet: “One-way ticket to where you came from with your name on it, Nancy.
Nancy Mace is one of the most openly bigoted and unstable members of Congress. S
he has been involved in strange conflicts with airport police, obsessed over trans women, shared blurred nude photos in Congress during a feud with her ex, and joked about having sex with her boyfriend at a religious event. The list of her weird and bad behavior is long.
Good riddance to her. T
his November, we should remove all the racist Republicans from the House and replace them with progressive leaders who will stand up for working families—and finally release the Epstein files.
Ilhan deserves credit for getting the last laugh. A
fter all the terrible abuse, harassment, and hatred she’s faced from people like Nancy Mace, it feels like a fitting end.
