While speaking in Texas, Marjorie Taylor Greene talked about the number of death threats she received, especially after Trump publicly attacked her. She also mentioned reaching out to various administration members. However, when she mentioned FBI Director Kash Patel, she made a harsh joke about him.
“I did hear from Kash Patel.
He said ‘on it’, but I haven’t heard from him since,” she said, then paused before adding, “I don’t know what he’s on.” The audience laughed at her comment, which likely referred to the recent controversy involving Patel, who was reportedly drunk at work.
In April, The Atlantic reported on Patel’s alleged drinking issues and unexplained absences.
Patel denied the claims, saying the writer, Sarah Fitzpatrick, had published “obviously fabricated” stories to damage his career.
Some people on social media supported Greene’s joke, with one user suggesting, “He probably meant on a bender.”
Others were surprised by how funny she was, saying, “Wow. MTG is now suddenly funny.”
Others reacted more negatively, implying that Greene had a plan, as one user noted, “I’d appreciate this more if she weren’t just a rat fleeing a sinking ship.”
Later in the speech, Greene told the audience that Trump told her it was her fault that she was receiving death threats.
Still visibly angry, she said, “Trump proceeded to tell me that it was my fault, and that I deserve it.
If my son gets killed, I deserve it, because I was a traitor to him.”
Back in April, during an interview with Piers Morgan, Greene said, “Standing up for rape victims doesn’t make me a traitor.”
She was referring to her campaign for the release of Department of Justice files related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which led to Trump turning his back on her entirely.
The Republican Representative announced her resignation from Congress in November, effective January 5, 2026.
In her resignation statement, she wrote, “I refuse to be a ‘battered wife’ hoping it all goes away and gets better.
“If I am cast aside by MAGA Inc. and replaced by Neocons, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Military Industrial War Complex, foreign leaders, and the elite donor class that can’t even relate to real Americans, then many common Americans have been cast aside and replaced as well.”
