The president will definitely be really angry to find out that Fernando Mendoza, the new quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders and the guy who led the Indiana Hoosiers to a big college football championship, decided not to eat at McDonald’s with Trump at the White House.
The Heisman Trophy winner told the media, “I think May 11th is the first day of OTAs (Organized Team Activities) if I’m not mistaken.”
He said, “I’m at the bottom of the totem pole here.
I have to prove myself. I can’t miss practice… I just wouldn’t. As a rookie, I don’t think that’s a good idea, and I want to do my best for my teammates. And I don’t know if that would help me reach my goal.”
That was a pretty polite way to say no, but it shows how bad things are with Donald Trump right now.
The NFL’s first overall pick isn’t going to visit him, probably because he doesn’t want to be seen with someone who’s had such a rough time in office.
OTAs are optional events that players don’t have to show up for.
Everyone would have understood if Mendoza missed the first day to meet with the president.
But instead, he chose not to take a picture with Trump and avoid being linked to him.
This refusal is going to bother Trump a lot.
He really likes to take the spotlight from better people and feel more important by hanging out with famous or talented people.
Trump’s presidency is in trouble, and the whole country can see that now.
He’s going to have to deal with the results of his bad decisions.
