Karoline Leavitt faced criticism from Fox News viewers after she criticized what she called “bad reporting.” The 28-year-old spoke to the press at the White House on Wednesday, April 15, about the continuing conflict in Iran. She said the talks between the U.S. and Iran are “productive” and that the peace discussions are still happening.
Leavitt got upset with some recent news stories, saying, “I saw some reporting, again bad reporting, this morning that we have formally asked for an extension of the ceasefire.
That is not true right now. We are still very much involved in these negotiations and talks.” The press briefing was shown live on Fox News, and viewers were surprised by her comments.
Leavitt continued, “You heard directly from the vice president and the president this week that these talks are productive and ongoing, and that’s where we are right now.
I’ve also seen some reporting about the possibility of in-person meetings. Again, those discussions are happening, but nothing is official until we say so at the White House.”
She added, “We feel positive about the chances of a deal.
The president mentioned this in his interview yesterday, and it’s clearly in Iran’s best interest to meet his demands. I think he has made his red lines very clear to the other side, and we are continuing to see how these talks go.”
When asked where the next talks will take place, she said, “They will most likely be in the same place as before.
I just want to make one important point about the president. Pakistanis have been great mediators throughout this process, and we really appreciate their friendship and their efforts to make this deal happen. So, they are the only mediator in this negotiation. While many countries around the world want to help, the president feels it’s important to keep the communication going through Pakistan, and that’s what continues to happen.”
A clip of the Fox News segment was posted on X, and viewers quickly expressed their frustration with Leavitt.
One person said, “She has no clue what Trump is doing in Iran.” Another asked, “So, the truth is whatever propaganda the White House puts out?” A third person said, “@PressSec, you do realize nothing that comes out of your mouth matters anymore, right?” They added, “All you do is lie.” Someone else criticized Donald Trump, saying, “That bad reporting was a series of Trump tweets.”
