While the world was watching nervously to see if Trump would attack Iran, Americans were voting to show they’re unhappy with the Republican Party and everything it represents.
In Wisconsin, Democrat Chris Taylor beat Republican Maria Lazar in a key race for the Wisconsin Supreme Court, making the liberal majority go from 4-3 to 5-2 in this important state.
“Chris Taylor spoke to the people.
Her message connected, and it was about protecting rights and freedoms, and that’s what people are saying now,” said Justice Rebecca Dallet, who helped shift the court left after her win in 2018.
In other parts of Wisconsin, Democrats made big gains in Republican strongholds like Milwaukee.
Democrat Alicia Halvensleben won the mayoral race against Republican Rick Allen in Waukesha, a county that strongly supported Trump in 2024.
In the race for Marjorie Taylor Greene’s old seat, Democrat Shawn Harris did better than any Democrat in a special election in at least ten years.
“I can’t find a dataset that goes back that far to match it,” said Zachary Donnini, head of data science at VoteHub. Harris lost by 55.9% to 44.1%, which is a 25-point overperformance in a district that voted for Trump by 37 points in 2024.
And that’s not all—Democrats also took over a red seat in Oklahoma when Democrat Connie Dodson beat Republican E’Lana Ashley in a school board race.
Voters punished Ashley after she said immigrants made their kids less safe.
This is a big win for Democrats and a big loss for Mike Johnson and the Republicans.
We need to get organized, get people involved, and donate to make sure our candidates have the support they need to flip every red seat blue and take our country back from Trump and his MAGA group.
