“You’re at the finals of the U.S. Open, a riveting performance… you’re the center of attention. So how does Trump react? Oh, he’s asleep again, just like he slept through most of the days of his criminal trial,” said psychologist John Gartner to co-host Harry Segal on their podcast “Shrinking Trump.”
Gartner spent roughly thirty years teaching at Johns Hopkins University Medical School and so his opinion carries a lot of weight in his field. Segal is a Senior Lecturer at Cornell University, adding even more force to the podcast’s pedigree.
“I just wanna point out, this isn’t normal,” Gartner said, explaining that uncontrollably falling asleep at inopportune times is often a symptom of dementia.
The experts then moved on to the issue of Trump’s physical health which has come under increasing scrutiny in recent months, with bizarre skin patches appearing on his skin, swollen ankles, and a strange droop to his mouth. The White House has admitted that he has malfunctioning valves that cause blood to pool in his legs, but it seems unlikely that we’re getting the full story.
“Congestive heart failure is what typically causes swelling, you know, largely swollen ankles,” said Segal. “I think he’s not, I mean, he’s not doing well.
Not done there, they criticized the administration for trying to pass off Trump’s bruised hands as a minor issue cause by “handshaking” and aspirin.
“They’re obviously hiding the more serious problem,” said Gartner. “He’s probably getting some kind of IV fluids.”
The psychologists also brought up the aforementioned drooping, which occurred at an event commemorating the 9/11 attacks. His appearance was so dramatically unwell that many began to speculate that he had suffered a stroke.
“When you see someone with half their face drooping like that, that’s not just someone being tired, that’s not a normal face,” said Segal. “It’s significant. And that’s why I’m showing it, not just to make fun of him or to joke.”
And the evidence keeps piling up. Over the weekend, Trump claimed that 300 million Americans died of drug overdoses last year. The entire population of the United States is roughly 340 million.
This was not an innocent case of Trump simply misspeaking and these kinds of cognitive screwups are happening more and more frequently. Something is deeply wrong with this man’s mind and body.
Compare the news media’s coverage of Trump’s current state to the breathless wall-to-wall reports about Joe Biden. The double standard is infuriating.
