President Donald Trump urged countries around the world to work together on how to handle Iran in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. He said that keeping the Strait of Hormuz safe should be a shared duty, not something only the United States has to do alone.
Trump said, “The United States has beaten Iran in every way—militarily, economically, and in every other way,” but he also said that countries that rely on oil passing through the Hormuz Strait should help protect it too.
He added, “The countries that get oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage, and we will help — A LOT!”
Trump said the U.S. would work with those countries to make sure things go “quickly, smoothly, and well.”
He called this a needed change in how the U.S. approaches the issue, saying, “This should have always been a team effort, and now it will be.”
He believed this teamwork would help bring “harmony, security, and everlasting peace” to the world.
This statement shows a bigger pattern in Trump’s foreign policy: he wants to reduce the U.S. taking on everything alone and instead get more support from allies and partners when it comes to security issues.
It follows his recent claim that the U.S. has already “won” in the Iran situation.
