Any suggestion that it is time to move on from the ‘Epstein files’ is unacceptable. It shows a lack of responsibility toward the victims, said a group of independent experts chosen by the UN Human Rights Council. Their comments came after the Trump administration released millions of Epstein files — although many of them are still not fully shared or are not properly redacted.
The experts said the seriousness, type, systematic nature, and global reach of these crimes against women and girls are so severe that some of them might qualify as crimes against humanity under international law.
The UNHRC panel is calling for an investigation into Epstein and his partners in the global elite.
They believe he was part of a “global criminal enterprise.” The files released so far back this claim.
Jeffrey Epstein is thought to have run a large sex trafficking operation, getting children to powerful people for abuse in exchange for money, influence, and access.
It also seems likely that much of this abuse was recorded to be used as blackmail. Whether or not this blackmail involved Trump is still unclear, but it’s known that Epstein and Trump were close friends, and Trump is accused of sexual abuse and rape in the files.
The experts said all the accusations in the ‘Epstein Files’ are serious and need independent, careful, and fair investigations.
They also want to find out how such crimes could happen for so long without being stopped.
The experts added that the unwillingness to fully share information or expand the investigations has left many survivors feeling retraumatized and experiencing what they call “institutional gaslighting.”
We can’t move forward with the Epstein story until there is full transparency.
In short, this is the most important political story in recent history. It has shown the deep corruption at the core of our society and revealed the presence of a group of rich men who have been controlling major world events through abuse and power. We demand justice.
