Trump Blasts Disillusioned Supporters Over Epstein Fallout: “I Don’t Want Their Support Anymore”
A growing divide within the MAGA movement intensified after former President Donald Trump lashed out at longtime supporters upset over the Department of Justice’s recent memo declaring no evidence of a Jeffrey Epstein “client list” or broader conspiracy.
In a fiery July 16 post on Truth Social, Trump dismissed the backlash as the product of “weaklings,” making it clear: “I don’t want their support anymore!” He framed the situation as yet another baseless attack orchestrated by “Radical Left Democrats,” comparing it to past controversies like the Russia investigation, the Steele dossier, and Hunter Biden’s laptop — all of which Trump has labeled “scams and hoaxes.”
Trump doubled down, accusing Democrats of excelling at “deception” rather than governing or presenting strong candidates, and criticized Republicans for lacking similar unity. He also referred to what he calls the “Jeffrey Epstein Hoax” as the latest manufactured smear, voicing disappointment that even some former allies are buying into it.
“They’re falling for the media and the Lunatic Left,” Trump said, emphasizing he is done catering to “PAST supporters” who he feels have turned on him.
One notable voice in the backlash has been Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has questioned the DOJ’s memo that concluded the Epstein investigation. While Trump did not mention her directly, Greene took to X the same day to share her own pointed message.
“My blind loyalty and faith is ONLY in God and Jesus Christ my savior,” Greene wrote. “That is what will guide my decisions, actions, and votes.”
The DOJ’s two-page memo, released earlier in July, concluded a sweeping review of over 300 gigabytes of Epstein-related materials — including video footage, physical evidence, and digital files — and found no basis to continue the case. The memo dismissed claims of a concealed client list or foul play in Epstein’s death.
Trump and key MAGA figures, including Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, have long floated conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein, alleging a deep-state cover-up and elite involvement. The DOJ’s findings, however, directly contradict those narratives — fueling frustration and division within the MAGA base.
High-profile Republicans like Greene, Sen. John Kennedy, Tucker Carlson, Laura Loomer, and others have criticized Attorney General Pam Bondi and the DOJ for what they see as a lack of transparency. Political analysts warn that the widening rift could threaten GOP unity ahead of the 2026 midterms and possibly the 2028 presidential race.
