Wanda Sykes told Stephen Colbert to “burn this bitch down” during the last episode of “The Late Show,” which is set to air on May 21. On Thursday, the actor and comedian said to Colbert, “You got to go the hell off the last show.” She continued, “Burn this bitch down,” which made the audience cheer loudly.
She also said, “You always bring the fire every night, but that last show has to be destruction.”
Sykes mentioned Colbert’s Catholic faith and suggested that, since “love is stronger than hate,” Colbert could invite Pope Leo, who was born in Chicago and has criticized the Trump administration’s anti-immigration policies, to be his final guest.
Colbert said, “I want to get Leo on here,” and added jokingly, “He’s ghosting me.
He’s holy ghosting me.”
Sykes responded, “You get the pope here but when the pope gets here, he’s got to go the hell off, he got to burn this bitch down.
“
CBS announced last summer that Colbert’s show would be canceled, stating it was “purely a financial decision.
” However, the announcement came just days before the Trump administration, which Colbert often criticizes, approved a merger between its parent company, Paramount, and Skydance.
