Turns out the Border Patrol agent who was caught on video yelling, “Step back, or I’m going to shoot you” at people in Evanston, Illinois, isn’t just someone who acts crazy with a badge — he’s also a bigoted, sexist, and anti-LGBTQ+ person hiding behind a fake online account.
Timothy Donahue, a 38-year-old who was part of Trump’s loyalist group called the “Green Army” led by Gregory Bovino, helped organize “Operation Midway Blitz” in Illinois.
A federal judge later criticized the agents for using dangerous tactics and making false statements in a ruling that felt like a warning about state-sanctioned violence.
On Halloween, Donahue was filmed twice pointing his gun at scared people after agents caused a crash and then rushed in like an army, hitting a man in the head while a woman screamed nearby.
The people detained were eventually let go without being charged.
Evanston’s mayor called the actions “lawlessness,” and the police chief sent the evidence to the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. An accountability group called ICE List used public records to find Donahue, and a local news outlet called Unraveled found his online account — which was full of racist messages, sexist comments, and hate towards LGBTQ+ people.
Under the username @Timothy77593126, Donahue liked a meme of a white dad cutting off his daughter for dating a Black boyfriend and called it “Based.”
He cheered violence against a gay man with the same word. He said, “some cultures are better than others,” and answered “Yes” when asked if America would be better if women couldn’t vote.
He wrote “Woodchipper” under a photo of a drag queen talking to a child and “Good” to a story about fear among trans people after the Nashville school shooting.
This is the kind of content you’d expect from a hate group, not from someone with a government gun and a strong political agenda.
When journalists started connecting the dots, Donahue didn’t stop — he changed his online name, cycling through display names like “Donny” and “Based Red Beard” as if a new identity could erase his past.
Meanwhile, Judge Sara Ellis called the entire Border Patrol operation out of control, saying the agents drove recklessly, caused the crash, and then lied under oath in statements that were hard to believe.
Records show Donahue had traffic tickets years earlier. Now he’s using a government gun to threaten civilians with Trump-style anger and bigotry.
This is what Trump’s border “law and order” looks like: an agent pointing a weapon at unarmed people, then going home to like racist memes and imagine taking away basic rights from women and LGBTQ+ people — all while the Department of Homeland Security ignores questions and his account remains online.
If this is who’s enforcing immigration rules, it’s not just a single bad person — it’s an entire system built to produce this kind of behavior.
