Donald Trump has been making negative comments about Australia and its lack of support for his controversial Iran war (which we should say is military action). The Prime Minister of Australia is getting tired of his attitude.
Sky News Australia, which is as right-wing as Fox News because they are both owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, recently aired a strong clip of Trump showing his disappointment and disrespect toward Australia.
The news outlet quickly followed the video of Trump’s false statements with a sharp response from Australia’s Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese.
Here’s how Trump described his interactions with the Australian government since the joint attacks on Iran by the U.S. and Israel began:
“Australia was not great.
I was a little surprised by Australia. We never really had very much support.”
Sky News didn’t wait a second before cutting to Prime Minister Albanese’s strong reaction to Trump’s false accusations.
“I again reiterate that there is no request being made to Australia that has not been agreed to,” Albanese said firmly.
“President Trump, it’s up to him to explain his comments, but of course. I also make the point that Australia wasn’t consulted before this action was taken, and I respect that. That’s a matter for the United States.”
What a polite way for the Australian leader to basically call Trump a liar!
Maybe we Americans should feel some relief that our dishonest president isn’t only lying to us, but also to every foreign leader he meets.
However, there’s not much comfort in knowing that the person in charge of American power is as dishonest as the character Jon Lovitz played on Saturday Night Live years ago.
Australia doesn’t want to be pulled into a conflict that could upset the balance of power in the world and hurt the global economy, which is already at risk of a big recession because of Trump’s poor planning for his disastrous actions.
To be clear, Prime Minister Albanese, most Americans — except maybe those who haven’t realized that Trump is on the brink of causing a global crisis — didn’t want to get involved in this illegal war either.
Perhaps Australia could offer a safe place for those Americans who know just how bad Trump is at telling the truth, just like their Prime Minister does.
