In a new legal notice, Comey’s lawyers told the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia that they will officially challenge the choice of Lindsey Halligan as the temporary U.S. Attorney. Halligan got the position after her previous boss didn’t carry out Trump’s requests for political prosecutions. She has no background in federal law enforcement.
Comey’s legal team stated that the motion is about whether it was legal to appoint the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia on October 20th.
They mentioned that the court had said such a motion would need to be handled by a judge from outside the district.
To make the process faster and prevent any unnecessary delays, Mr. Comey is sending this notice to officially let the court know.
Halligan was once a beauty pageant contestant from Colorado and had worked as Trump’s personal lawyer.
This current group isn’t trying to hide what they’re doing. They are openly using the Justice Department’s power to go after people they see as enemies of Trump. Once the Democrats are in charge, all of them should be checked for corruption.
