“I don’t get how people are scared of a fat, old man who wears apricot makeup, has hair like Tippi Hedren in *The Birds*, and sits in a courtroom moaning and complaining,” Caroll said on The Daily Beast podcast.
“He was really captivating.
You’ve never seen anything like that,” she said about the jury. “He never stayed still, and he kept talking the whole time, right in front of the jury. He treated his own lawyer, Alina Habba, badly. He would spit while he talked and didn’t smell very good.”
She talked about how her lawyer, Robbie Kaplan, really got under Trump’s skin.
“He got so angry that steam came out of his ears and hot air blew out of his nose when Robbie gave her final argument,” Caroll said.
“She asked the jury how much it would take to make him stop.”
“She drove him so crazy, he got up and left the courtroom,” she explained.
“When someone is innocent, they don’t run out of court; they stay and fight. He ran out like he was guilty. That was the moment he lost.”
Caroll accused Trump of raping her and was later found civilly liable for sexually assaulting her.
She won $5 million, but Trump continued to defame her and deny her story, eventually leading to her huge $83.3 million win.
“When the jury heard the evidence, it wasn’t hard,” Kaplan told The Daily Beast.
“The clerk opens the paper, reads it, frowns, shakes his head, and folds it back up and gives it to Judge Kaplan,” Caroll said.
“Judge Kaplan opens it and his eyebrows go up near his hairline, he frowns and says, ‘Madame forewoman, what does the M stand for?’”
The forewoman explained that “M” stood for “million.”
“That was a big moment,” Caroll said.
“I felt like Peter Pan, flying around the ceiling. I haven’t come back down yet. That win was huge and powerful, not just for me or Robbie, but for everyone in the country who had lost hope that he could ever be beaten.”
“We’re still feeling the good from that win.
It happened. And we proved—Robbie proved, and I proved—that Trump can be beaten,” Caroll said. “He can be beaten.”
E. Jean Caroll is right.
Trump shouldn’t be feared. He can be defeated. All it takes is the courage to fight back.
