As Trump’s illegal and brutal war against Iran continues, a growing wave of extreme and extremely hateful anti-Islamic prejudice is spreading through the Republican Party. Some of its worst members are openly calling Muslims an “enemy” and saying they’re a danger to our country.
Tommy Tuberville, a man who used to coach football and was recently chosen as a U.S. Senator by Alabama (even though he’s not qualified), responded to a photo of New York City’s popular socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani sharing an iftar meal at City Hall.
Iftar is the special meal Muslims have at the end of Ramadan after fasting all day. Tuberville wrote, “The enemy is inside the gates.”
This is just plain lazy and terrible racism from someone who clearly hates and has no shame.
It’s not acceptable for a U.S. Senator, especially one who is supposed to represent the 23,000 Muslims in his state.
But Zohran handled it very well.
He used the attack as a chance to push his plan for making life better and more affordable for New Yorkers. He wrote, “There should be just as much outrage in Washington when kids go hungry as there is when I sit down to eat with New Yorkers.”
Zohran has already done more for his city in three months than Tommy Tuberville has done for his state in five years.
By holding an iftar at City Hall with people of all faiths, he helped make the tradition more familiar and showed New Yorkers that it’s just about gathering with friends and family after a long day — something everyone does.
He’s helping build a better sense of community in a city that truly shows what America can be — a mix of different faiths, races, and cultures living together in peace and creating a unique culture that you can’t find anywhere else in the world.
Tommy Tuberville, on the other hand, represents the worst parts of America.
He’s a rich person who uses fear and hate to gain power and blame others for their problems, while he and others from the Epstein group take advantage of people’s struggles.
