The White House is upset that the Boss put out a new song that criticizes the Trump administration’s violent actions against protesters in Minneapolis.
Bruce Springsteen, a well-known American rock star, honored VA nurse Alex Pretti and mother Renee Good, both 37, who were killed by federal agents this month.
He included them in his new song “Streets of Minneapolis,” which came out on Wednesday. This made the White House very unhappy.
In a statement to Variety, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said the Trump administration doesn’t care about “random songs with wrong opinions and bad information.”
She said they are more focused on law enforcement efforts to get “dangerous illegal aliens” out of communities.
The song mentions, “Two dead left to die on snow-filled streets / Alex Pretti and Renee Good.”
In the first verse, Springsteen sings about “King Trump’s private army from the DHS / Guns belted to their coats / Came to Minneapolis to enforce the law / Or so their story goes.”
Jackson also said the media should report on how Democrats haven’t worked with the administration and instead “provided sanctuary” for these “criminal illegals.”
Springsteen named specific members of the Trump administration in the song, referring to “Miller and Noem’s dirty lies.”
Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem have previously called Pretti and Good “domestic terrorists.”
He also described Minneapolis as “aflame fought fire and ice,” and that it is “Neath an occupier’s boots.”
On Bluesky, Springsteen said the song was “in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis,” and that “It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.”
Trump has a history of getting angry at Springsteen’s criticism.
He once attacked the rocker on Truth Social for performing at Kamala Harris’s campaign rallies, accusing him of taking a bribe and demanding a “major investigation.” He also called Springsteen a “dried-out ‘prune’ of a rocker” in May 2025.

Springsteen has been a long-time critic of Trump.
He called the president an authoritarian throughout his recent tour and on his latest EP.
