President Donald Trump has criticized his vice president during ongoing peace talks with Iran, posting on Truth Social. In the post, he praised Allah and claimed to have eliminated key Iranian leaders.
Trump wrote, “The Fake News Media has lost total credibility, not that they had any to begin with.”
He accused the media of having a “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” claiming they wrongly say Iran is winning when, in reality, Iran is losing big. He said Iran’s navy, air force, anti-aircraft systems, radar, missiles, and drones have been destroyed, and its leaders are no longer alive.
This post was published as peace talks between U.S. and Iranian officials started in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Saturday.
Trump’s message did not mention the negotiations led by Vice President JD Vance, along with special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Vance has asked for Iran to have no uranium enrichment capability, which is needed for nuclear weapons.
But Kushner and Witkoff proposed a deal where the U.S. would supply Iran with uranium for civilian use.
Kushner and Witkoff had been negotiating Iran’s nuclear program, but the efforts were unsuccessful.
Trump launched an unauthorized war against Iran on February 28, which led Iran to say it would prefer to negotiate only with Vance, who is against U.S. military interventions in the Middle East.
Trump also claimed the U.S. is working to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as a favor, not because of high gas prices in the U.S.
He said oil tankers from many countries are heading to the U.S. to fill up with oil.
It’s unclear what exactly clearing the Strait of Hormuz means.
Iran closed the waterway during Trump’s war, using it as leverage with rising oil prices. Trump has been asking allies to help open the Strait but they have been hesitant. His administration is reportedly considering penalties for allies who don’t support his war in Iran.
Trump even threatened to eliminate the entire Iranian population if they didn’t reopen the Strait, but later walked back the threat after the U.S. and Iran reached a ceasefire agreement.
In another post, Trump praised American crude oil, highlighting that many empty oil tankers are heading to the U.S. to load up with “sweet” oil and gas.
