Donald Trump has a new focus — and it’s not about fixing the economy, helping workers, or fixing the mess he made. Surprisingly, the 79-year-old former president spent Wednesday attacking the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, calling it “Biden filth and incompetence,” while promising a cheap, flashy makeover for the National Mall that feels like it came straight out of Mar-a-Lago’s gift shop.
In a post on Truth Social full of drama, Trump shared a black-and-white video — with a swamp-green filter and set to Andrea Bocelli’s “Time to Say Goodbye” — announcing a plan to “Make D.C. Beautiful Again.”
Nothing says “strong leadership” like a flashy video whining about a pool that was built long before Biden was born.
“This is the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool before Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and I fix it,” Trump said, as if he were revealing a major restoration instead of pushing for a taxpayer-funded project that’s all about his ego.
“You won’t be seeing this Biden filth much longer!”
But here’s the thing — Biden didn’t build the pool.
It was completed way back in 1923. And Trump’s “beautification” record so far includes adding gold trim to the Oval Office, paving over the Rose Garden to build a Mar-a-Lago-style patio, and even tearing down part of the East Wing to create a ballroom like he was fixing up a casino.
Trump’s message was simple: if something is old, modest, or not gilded like a Vegas buffet, he wants it gone.
While Americans are dealing with real issues — like high costs, housing shortages, and increasing extremism — Trump is busy dreaming up a National Mall makeover that nobody asked for, using language that sounds more like a grumpy Yelp review than a presidential speech.
But hey, at least now we know what Trump thinks “infrastructure” means: anything that lets him put his name on it in gold.
