We are not sharing images of the video out of respect for our former President and his wife.
The 79-year-old man, who has dementia and is accused of sexual abuse, posted 66 messages around midnight last night.
The posts covered a range of topics, from dog videos to extreme racism similar to what you might see on Stormfront.
One of the videos was a conspiracy theory about the 2020 election, which ended with a crude cartoon showing the Obama family as apes.
It’s very shocking and shameful that the president of the United States posted this on his social media.
It caused a lot of anger online.
Governor Gavin Newsom said, “This is disgusting behavior by the President.
Every Republican should denounce this. Now.”
Medhi Hasan said, “In normal times, this would end the political career of a state senator, but it won’t hurt the president of the United States.
The US media has decided, as a group, to let him off the hook for his racism. The recent NBC interview didn’t ask him a single question about it.”
@Gandalv wrote on Twitter, “In any other major democracy, this behavior from a head of state would trigger a constitutional crisis.
Across working democracies, the public, institutions, and political leaders would recognize this for what it is: an attack on the dignity of the state itself. Leaders are not free to act like entertainers without facing consequences. National honor isn’t something personal; it’s held in trust.”
Ben Rhodes, a former Obama supporter, said, “Let it haunt Trump and his racist followers that future Americans will see the Obamas as beloved figures while studying Trump as a stain on our history.”
Scholar Brian Rosenwald noted, “If any other president in modern American history had posted something so clearly racist, their entire party would have condemned them (except for some Southern Democrats before the 1960s), it would have been a major story for weeks, and there would have been huge pressure to resign.”
It’s telling that the first reaction to this isn’t surprise, because we all know there’s no bottom to the hatred Trump has for his predecessor, who was a better man and president in every way.
This marks another rule of decency that Trump has broken in his crazy attack on everything good this country ever stood for, while promoting its worst and most harmful traits.
He needs to be removed from office right away.
