Trump isn’t going to stop the accusations of racism anytime soon. He has once again gone against tradition by not inviting America’s only Black governor, Wes Moore, to the National Governors Association dinner, which is usually a meeting where people from both political parties come together.
Wes Moore didn’t just take this news quietly.
He made a strong statement:
“Recently, I found out I wasn’t invited to this year’s National Governors Association dinner — an event that has been around for decades and is meant to bring together governors from both parties to build relationships and celebrate their service to the American people with the President of the United States.
My fellow governors, from both parties, chose me to be the Vice-Chair of the NGA, which makes it difficult not to see this decision as another example of disrespect and a snub to the spirit of cooperation between the federal government and the states.”
“As the only Black governor in the country, I can’t ignore that being excluded from this traditionally bipartisan event carries extra weight — whether that was intended or not.
“What makes this even more confusing is that just a few weeks ago, I was at the White House with a group of governors from both parties working with the administration on ways to lower energy costs and improve the reliability of the power grid.
That moment showed what’s possible when we focus on results instead of political differences.
“As the Governor of Maryland and Vice-Chair of the NGA, my approach will never change: I’m ready to work with the administration anywhere we can get things done.
I promised the people of my state I will work with anyone but I won’t bow down to anyone. And I guess the President doesn’t like that.”
It’s easy to understand why Trump disinvited Wes Moore, especially after he posted a disgusting racist image of the Obamas as apes.
Trump is a white supremacist at his core, and we need to get him out of office as soon as it’s legally possible.
