Laura Loomer is a controversial and extreme MAGA influencer who still manages to get the attention of the president—and maybe even more, depending on what people are saying. Her journey as a right-wing figure started when she was kicked out of Uber for being racist toward a Muslim taxi driver, and things have kept going in that direction ever since.
Loomer was in New Delhi today for the India Today Conclave 2026, for reasons that aren’t clear, and she was questioned by a reporter named Rajdeep Sardesai about some of the really bad things she has said about Indians and Muslims.
Sardesai asked her about a statement she made saying, “If Kamala Harris wins, the White House will smell like curry and speeches will be handled through a call center.”
He also pointed out that she claimed the country was built by white Europeans, not by people from India. He told her, “I think you should do more than just say you’re sorry.”
He continued, “From what I can see, you’re showing open racism and hatred toward Muslims.
I’m sorry to say that, but we have a tradition in this country of welcoming everyone, but your comments sound like anti-Indian sentiment, and even worse—racism and Islamophobia, which don’t belong in today’s world. So, please, be real, ma’am!”
He added, “I can’t accept those comments as an Indian or as someone who cares about the world.”
Loomer ended up apologizing, maybe sensing the mood of the room for once, but it’s unlikely she meant it.
She’s one of the most openly racist people in the MAGA group, which is already full of similar people.
It’s unclear why she was invited to speak, but it’s good that Rajdeep Sardesai stood up to her and called her out.
