Donald Trump kept ignoring serious warnings from General Dan Caine, the head of the Joint Chiefs, who said Iran would cause problems in the Strait of Hormuz after U.S. attacks. In several meetings, Caine told Trump that Iran would probably send missiles and drones to the area, but Trump didn’t listen. He thought Iran would quickly give in and not fight back.
Trump told his team he was sure the U.S. military could handle any threat to the strait, even though he knew there were risks.
Now, three weeks after his illegal trip, Iran has done exactly what the generals warned about: it has stopped and attacked ships in the Strait, cutting off 20% of the world’s oil.
Tankers have been hit, oil prices have gone up, and the International Energy Agency has released the biggest amount of oil from emergency reserves ever.
The war has killed at least 13 U.S. soldiers and more than 1,300 Iranians, including a group of girls at a school.
It has also caused a lot of fighting back and forth between the U.S. and Iran, and Trump can’t stop it, no matter how hard he tries.
People like Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut called the lack of planning “shocking.”
He said they had no plan to deal with the crisis in the strait, and they still didn’t have one.
Trump’s schedule keeps changing.
At first, he said the strikes would last four to five weeks. Then he claimed, “We’ve already won in many ways, but we haven’t won enough.” Now he says he’ll pull out when he feels “in his bones” that it’s time. His own advisors outside the White House are looking for a way out, but Trump isn’t sure if he should stop.
When asked by reporters if the war would be long or short, Trump strangely said, “Both.”
But he can’t have it both ways. If he thinks he can, the men in white coats are waiting outside ready to take him away.
This isn’t something to laugh about.
Families are mourning their dead, people are already worried about the cost of gas, and the Middle East is on fire.
This kind of leadership should not be accepted for even a second in the United States of America.
