The chance for Democrats to win back the Senate seemed really tough until former Congresswoman Mary Peltola said she would run against Dan Sullivan, a wealthy Alaska businessman who supports the MAGA movement.
Suddenly, the political situation changed a lot.
After three months of campaigning, Peltola is now leading Sullivan by 5%, after starting the race with a 4.5% deficit!
As more Alaskans get to know Mary Peltola, they’re starting to really like her.
She’s the first Native Alaskan woman ever elected to Congress, and she connects directly with everyday Alaskans in a way that Dan Sullivan, a lawyer from Ohio who became rich through his father’s business, can’t.
Mary is a Yup’ik native who has always worked for Alaska.
She started as a technician for fish and game, then worked her way up to becoming a state legislator, city council member, community development manager, and director of the Kuskokwim River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission.
Her values — fish, family, and freedom — have always guided her work, and now they will help lead a strong Senate campaign that is important for Democrats to take back the Senate.
Great job, Mary!
Keep up the good work and help turn the Senate blue!
