Washington DC – Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is getting more criticism for the way he talks about how President Donald Trump’s administration is dealing with the war on Iran.
During an interview with MS Now on Sunday, Army Major General Randy Manner was shown a video clip of Hegseth making strong and aggressive comments, including saying he would bring “death and destruction from the sky all day long.”
“I want to be very clear – the words that the secretary of defense said are definitely the words of someone who could be considered a war criminal,” Major Manner said.
He went on, “Put it simply, the president can’t protect this secretary, even if he gives him a pardon for what he did.”
Manner also added, “The International War Tribunal might look into this secretary for war crimes against humanity.”
Since the start of Trump’s second term, both the president and Hegseth have tried to change the Pentagon into a more aggressive image, even renaming it the “Department of War.”
During the 2024 presidential race, Manner – who has been a strong critic of Trump for many years – attacked the Republican after he made general threats to target “the enemy within.”
Manner argued that this kind of speech sounds like what a fascist leader would say.
“Most Americans don’t realize how easy it would be for… an out-of-control president to use the military against our own people,” Manner warned.
