Representatives for former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem spoke out about a report that her husband cross-dresses and interacts with fetish models online. They told the New York Post that Kristi Noem is “devastated” by the news.
“Ms. Noem is devastated,” her representatives said to the New York Post on Tuesday.
“The family was surprised by this, and they ask for privacy and prayers at the time.”
Noem’s representatives didn’t respond right away to HuffPost’s request for a comment.
On Tuesday, the Daily Mail reported that Kristi Noem’s husband, Bryon Noem, who is 56 years old, posted pictures online wearing women’s clothes, often with fake breasts, and chatted with models in the “bimbofication” scene.
This scene involves women dressing like stereotypes of bimbos.
Bryon Noem supposedly told models he loved “huge, huge ridiculous boobs,” and made “indiscreet remarks” about his wife, according to the Daily Mail.
He also allegedly sent models money, up to $25,000, through CashApp and PayPal.
The Daily Mail reported that Bryon Noem’s online activity might have put Kristi Noem, who was the Homeland Security Secretary until earlier this month when President Donald Trump fired her, at risk for blackmail.
After the news about Bryon Noem’s hidden life came out, some politicians shared comments on social media.
The official Democratic Party account posted that both Bryon and Kristi Noem “like to dress up,” a hint at ads she ran while working as DHS secretary that cost over $200 million.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.)
said the news was a personal matter and a distraction from other “priorities.”
While Kristi Noem was governor of South Dakota, she made her anti-LGBTQ views clear.
This included banning transgender athletes from women’s sports and signing a law that allows people to refuse service to LGBTQ individuals based on religious beliefs.
Kristi Noem’s personal life has also caused controversy.
Rumors have suggested she has been in a long-term affair with homeland security aide Corey Lewandowski, even though both are married to other people. At a House Judiciary Committee hearing earlier this month, Kristi Noem called the rumors “tabloid garbage.”
