A U.S. District Judge in New Jersey, Zahid N. Quarishi, recently strongly criticized the Trump administration, saying it has moved from being careless to acting in a way that shows “clear and serious recklessness” when it comes to arresting and detaining immigrants.
In a very harsh order, the judge said the government has broken court orders again and again, moving immigrants around the country without any notice or reason, which makes it hard to protect their rights.
The judge criticized the U.S. Attorney’s Office for admitting it broke 72 court orders related to immigration habeas cases in this district alone.
Another judge said that number is probably too low.
The overwhelmed office said the violations were not on purpose, but the judge said that excuse doesn’t work anymore.
“The court’s trust has been damaged. Continuing to break the rules after being warned so many times can only be seen as on purpose.”
The judge warned: “I will not just watch and do nothing while this deliberate misconduct continues.
It stops today.”
This is a big and shocking step.
In many cases, the administration is ignoring the courts, treating their orders as just suggestions, while thousands are being held without proper legal rights. Judges are now threatening to bring Justice and Homeland Security officials in, under oath, to explain this pattern of breaking the rules.
This isn’t just about bad legal work—it’s about willfully breaking the rule of law.
The Trump administration’s use of immigration enforcement as a tool ignores due process and tries to make the Judiciary powerless.
Finally, a federal judge has spoken up clearly, saying the government knows what it’s doing and must stop right away.
If you’re angry about this clear disregard for court orders and the rights of detained immigrants, like and share to call for justice.
