“You have made me testify, even though I know nothing that would help your investigation, in order to shift focus away from President Trump’s actions and to hide them, despite real questions needing answers,” Clinton said.
She criticized House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer for being a shameless partisan supporter of Trump and said his committee subpoenaed her based on the assumption that she had information about the criminal activities of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
She made it clear that she does not.
“As I stated in my sworn declaration on January 13, I had no idea about their criminal activities,” she said.
“I don’t remember ever meeting Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his plane or went to his island, homes, or offices. I have nothing else to add.”
There is no evidence that the former Secretary of State has any knowledge of Epstein, even though her husband had connections with him.
Also, as Democrats have repeatedly said, we don’t care who is named in the files. Release them all and let the chips fall where they may.
Clinton told Comer to make himself “worthy of the trust the American people have given you.”
She also blamed Republicans for running a fake investigation that clearly “is meant to protect one political party and one public official.”
“A committee led by elected officials who care about transparency would ensure the full release of all the files,” she said.
“Instead, you have made me testify, fully aware that I know nothing that would help your investigation, in order to distract from President Trump’s actions and to cover them up despite real questions needing answers,” Clinton continued.
“If this Committee is serious about finding the truth about Epstein’s trafficking crimes, it would not rely on press briefings to get answers from our current president about his involvement; it would ask him directly under oath about the tens of thousands of times he appears in the Epstein files,” she added.
There’s a straightforward way to cut through all this confusion and finally get the full truth to the American people.
Release the Epstein files and prosecute everyone implicated in them. Focusing on the Clintons is just a last-ditch effort by a White House desperate for a distraction. It won’t work.
