“Listen to us. Our country is not for sale. We do not want to be Americans… We are Kalaallit,” yelled a prominent political leader at the rally. “Not to take over. Not to acquire. Not by pressure. Not now. Not ever!”
Thousands of people protested in Danish cities like Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg, and Odense against U.S. actions.
The protests happened on the same day that Trump announced new tariffs on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland.
These tariffs would start at 10% on February 1st and rise to 25% on June 1st unless the U.S. gets Greenland.
This will make things more expensive for American families and damage ties with European allies.
But why?
The U.S. already has full military access to Greenland.
They just don’t use it because there’s no real military threat in the North Atlantic—except the U.S. itself.
But Trump can’t accept “no” when it comes to getting what he wants, whether it’s from a person or a country.
We hope that leaders in the military and the Senate can stop Trump from breaking NATO and changing the world order, all because he acts like a spoiled child who won’t take “no” for an answer.
