“Release the documents. Redact the names of the victims. Don’t release any photos, even ones that show minors, from the files. Release the documents. This won’t stop until there is full disclosure,” said Republican Senator John Kennedy.
When asked if he thought the Justice Department should keep unverified claims against Trump from a woman who talked to the FBI, Kennedy repeated his stance: “I don’t know how else to say it: Release the documents.”
He added, “This won’t go away until there is full disclosure, and the American people want to know, and they have the right to know, who—if anyone—was involved in trafficking these women through Epstein and why they weren’t charged.”
Republican Senator Susan Collins also called for the full release of the files, though her comments were less strong.
“I don’t know the full situation or if there are good reasons for redacting or holding back the documents, especially since he is still in office, but that seems against the purpose of the law,” she said.
Senator Chuck Grassley said, “When we pass a law that says all documents should be released, it seems to me that all documents should be released.”
Senator Thom Tillis said it would be “concerning” if the Justice Department withheld Epstein-related files that mention Trump, as some reports suggest.
“If it’s true, it’s concerning.
Unless it goes through the same review process as everyone else… I’ve heard the reports, but I haven’t confirmed them,” he said.
The push for transparency from Republican lawmakers follows a report from The New York Times and other major outlets stating that recent releases of the Epstein files left out FBI interviews with a woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted by Trump and Epstein when she was a minor.
According to the Epstein Files Transparency Act passed by Congress, those interview summaries should have been included.
Clearly, the Justice Department made an effort to hide the truth about our president, who is accused of being a pedophile, for purely political reasons.
They can delay and distract as much as they like, but in the end, those files will be released, and the world will find out the full truth about Trump.
