This week, Pete Hegseth spoke to reporters about meeting with the families of the airmen who died in a sad accident involving a KC-135 plane in the Middle East. Six service members lost their lives in that tragedy.
Hegseth shared what he heard from the families, saying that despite their sadness and grief, they showed strength and determination.
He said they told him, “Finish this. Honor their sacrifice. Don’t waver. Don’t stop until the job is done.”
It’s convenient for the Trump administration that the families of the men who died in their war—without permission—were so loyal and supportive of whatever mission they were involved in.
But as usual, these people are full of lies.
Charles Simmons, the father of Airman Tyler Simmons, told NBC News he never said anything like that to Hegseth.
“I can’t speak for the other families,” Simmons said.
“When he talked to me, that wasn’t something we discussed.”
When asked if he told Hegseth or Trump that the war should continue, Simmons replied, “No, I didn’t say anything like that.”
Trump said the same thing a few weeks ago when the bodies of the fallen began to be brought home.
You won’t be surprised to learn that he was lying again.
A government official who was close to Trump during those meetings told NBC News they didn’t hear any of the families tell Trump to “finish the job” in Iran—whatever that actually meant—because the Trump administration keeps changing its story every day.
It’s not really a surprise, but it’s still shocking to see how far these people will go.
They’ll lie, twist words, use tragedies, and disgrace sacrifices to protect themselves and keep their power.
No one should have to die because Donald Trump is an idiot.
For him to then damage the memory of those who died by putting words in their families’ mouths to make himself look better is an evil act.
