“Oh man, there has been so much today and I truly don’t know where to start. So I’m just going to make sure that we start off with a few facts,” Crockett said during a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee. “So a couple of facts that we need to make clear for everyone is that number one, Director Christopher Wray, when he was appointed to be the head of the FBI, was appointed by Donald Trump.”
“Now, I will agree that I definitely take issue with a number of decisions that Donald Trump makes, especially when it comes to the people that he decides to appoint to very important positions, including this one, because I did have to make sure that I wasn’t going crazy,” she went on.
“But when I say that you are the least qualified FBI director in the history of the FBI, that is real because you were the only one that never even served with the FBI prior to joining,” she said. “Yet we are supposed to believe that you were the greatest thing since sliced bread.”
“That’s false,” interjected Patel.
“I didn’t ask you a question. Now, what I want to go through is to talk about why you are a failure and why, honestly, we just need to tell you bye bye. I know that got a little upset and you put on your show for your boss cause it seems like you’re trying to save your job when it came to talking to Senator Booker yesterday, but let’s go through some of your failures,” she said.
Crockett then ripped into Patel with a list of his greatest offenses including his illegal firing of FBI officials for partisan reasons, his role in making minorities feel unsafe in this country, his failure to take action as death threats and even assassinations pile up against Democratic lawmakers, and his refusal to acknowledge that right-wing extremism poses the greatest threat to this country’s peace and security.
Not done there, Crockett pointed to Patel’s failure to fully staff the FBI, his wasteful use of FBI agents to “play ICE agents on the streets,” and his failure to confront domestic terrorism targeting HBCUs.
This is how it’s done. Congresswoman Crockett is absolutely correct. Not only is Patel the least qualified FBI Director in history, he’s the most incompetent and most partisan as well. This disgrace of a man should resign immediately.
