House Republicans didn’t consider the impact of having a former president appear before Congress to talk about their connection with Jeffrey Epstein. Now, Democrats have all the reason they need to push for Donald Trump to testify.
Rep. Robert Garcia clearly explained the situation during a press conference in Washington.
“A new standard has been set in America today,” said the California Democrat.
“Before this, there was the Trump rule. Trump ignored a congressional subpoena from the January 6th committee and said presidents don’t have to testify. Now we have the Clinton rule, which means presidents and their families must appear when Congress asks them to. That means Donald Trump needs to come before our committee and explain what he knew about Epstein.”
“We are now asking and insisting that President Trump appear before the Oversight Committee.
He appears in the Epstein files — alongside Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell — more than anyone else.”
“It’s time for the president to answer questions about why certain files are missing from the DOJ, why there was a White House cover-up, and why the administration still calls this investigation a hoax.”
Absolutely.
Two can play this game, Rep. Comer.
If you want to bring the Clintons to your court, we can do the same with Donald Trump, who is clearly involved in serious crimes and a cover-up as well.
