On his MSNBC show, Lawrence O’Donnell went on a big, angry rant about the Republican-led House Oversight Committee’s choice to subpoena Hillary Clinton over her supposed links to Jeffrey Epstein — even though she never met him — while completely ignoring Melania Trump, who actually knew both Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
He said, “There’s only one First Lady in history who met a person who trafficked and raped children and was also a close friend of Donald Trump, Jeffrey Epstein.”
O’Donnell added, “Today, Republicans on the House Oversight Committee decided to question a former First Lady who NEVER MET Jeffrey Epstein.”
He pointed out that the Epstein files include emails from Melania Trump to Ghislaine Maxwell, praising her, but there’s no evidence that Hillary Clinton had any contact with Epstein or Maxwell.
Still, the committee chose to subpoena Hillary Clinton.
He asked, “Where is their subpoena for Melania Trump, who actually knew both Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell?
Why aren’t they asking Melania Trump: ‘Did Donald Trump introduce you to Jeffrey Epstein or did Jeffrey Epstein introduce you to Donald Trump?’”
O’Donnell criticized the Republicans for only focusing on Hillary Clinton, even though there’s no real proof of any connection.
He noted that Melania Trump has clear ties to Epstein and Maxwell that go beyond the photos we’ve all seen.
He said this isn’t an investigation at all — it’s just trying to hide the truth.
The GOP is protecting one of their own while dragging a former First Lady through the mud for no reason. It’s a bad use of their power and a weak effort to confuse people about a story that, to their surprise, is getting clearer.
