“I just finished testifying before the House Oversight Committee,” Clinton said in a video posted to X. “I did it for two reasons. First, I love my country, including our Constitution.” He continued, “America was built on the idea that no one is above the law, especially not presidents, and that we should all live by the same rules.”
“This kind of democracy needs every person to do their part,” he said. “
And I hope that by being here today, we can take one small step back from the edge and return to a country where we can disagree politely and search for truth and justice, rather than focusing on scoring points and creating drama.”
“The second reason I was there is because the girls and women who were harmed by Jeffrey Epstein deserve more than just justice—they deserve healing,” Clinton said. “
They’ve waited too long for both. Even though my time with Epstein ended years before his crimes were known, and I never saw any signs of what was actually going on during our brief interactions, I shared what I knew in the hope that it would help prevent something like this from happening again.”
Clinton also shared a personal note. “
Republicans forced Hillary to testify yesterday, and she had nothing to do with Epstein. Nothing,” he added. “She has no memory of ever meeting him. She didn’t travel with him or visit any of his places. So whether ten people or ten thousand were subpoenaed, it was wrong to target her.”
On this point, the former president is right.
Hillary Clinton wasn’t involved in any part of the Epstein case. She was subpoenaed because Republicans are trying to shift focus from Trump, who is accused of sexual abuse and rape. They know that right-wing voters still get upset thinking about Hillary, so dragging her into this is like giving them something to get excited about.
“So here’s what I told the committee,” Bill Clinton continued in his video.
“I didn’t know anything about the crimes Epstein committed. No matter how many pictures they show of me, two things matter more than any interpretation of old photos. I know what I saw and, more importantly, what I didn’t see. I know what I did and, more importantly, what I didn’t do. I saw nothing and did nothing wrong.”
“As someone who grew up in a home with domestic violence, I would never have flown on his plane if I had even a hint of what he was doing,” he said. “
I would have turned to him and led the call for justice for his crimes, not the deal he got. But even with 20/20 hindsight, I saw nothing that ever made me pause. We’re only here today because Epstein hid it so well for so long. And by the time it came to light with his 2008 guilty plea, I had long stopped associating with it.”
“When the video of my testimony is released, I hope it will encourage everyone to speak out in front of Congress about what they know.
I hope it will encourage the Justice Department to finally release all the files and make sure this never happens again. The survivors deserve that,” he concluded.
Bill Clinton being forced to testify sets a historic precedent.
It means Donald Trump is fair game and should be required immediately to explain his connection to Epstein under oath.
