“I have called for the full release of the Epstein files. I have provided a sworn statement of what I know. And just this week, I’ve agreed to appear in person before the committee,” the former president wrote on X. “But it’s still not enough for Republicans on the House Oversight Committee.”
“Now, Chairman Comer says he wants cameras, but only behind closed doors,” he continued. “Who benefits from this arrangement? It’s not Epstein’s victims, who deserve justice. Not the public, who deserve the truth. It serves only partisan interests. This is not fact-finding, it’s pure politics.”
“I will not sit idly as they use me as a prop in a closed-door kangaroo court by a Republican Party running scared. If they want answers, let’s stop the games & do this the right way: in a public hearing, where the American people can see for themselves what this is really about,” Clinton concluded.
The public throwdown from Bill follows a similar one from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton—
“For six months, we engaged Republicans on the Oversight Committee in good faith. We told them what we know, under oath,” she wrote on X. “They ignored all of it. They moved the goalposts and turned accountability into an exercise in distraction.”
“So let’s stop the games. If you want this fight, @RepJamesComer, let’s have it—in public,” she added. You love to talk about transparency. There’s nothing more transparent than a public hearing, cameras on. We will be there.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has said the Clintons will not be treated differently and wants their depositions on Epstein to happen in private, not in a public hearing.
Clearly, Comer is protecting Trump, who is scared that the Clintons will reveal more about his long friendship with Epstein, which was full of inappropriate behavior.
The Clintons are skilled at speaking publicly and will likely expose the Republicans’ confusion and distractions.
This is especially concerning for Trump because it sets a precedent that former presidents can be forced to testify publicly about Epstein.
Trump can’t stand the idea of being forced to speak under oath about the billionaire pedophile because it would either reveal more secrets or force him to lie.
In a last-ditch effort to deal with the Clinton issue, Trump began praising them, saying it “bothers” him that “somebody’s going after Bill Clinton.”
“I liked Bill Clinton. I still like Bill Clinton.… I liked his behavior toward me. I thought he got me, he understood me,” Trump said.
We’ll see if he still “likes” Bill Clinton after he delivers his Epstein testimony.
