According to an official statement from the Vatican, Pope Leo met with Axelrod and his group today. No more details were given, but Axelrod is considered a direct link to Obama. It’s likely this meeting was about setting up a time, place, and agreement for a proper meeting with the former president.
This news comes just a day after it was reported that Trump’s Pentagon called the Vatican’s ambassador for a meeting, scolded him for Pope Leo’s comments on MAGA’s foreign policy, and hinted at using U.S. military force against Leo by mentioning the 14th-century Avignon Papacy.
A meeting between Obama and Leo would make a lot of sense.
They’re both from Chicago and strongly oppose the MAGA movement that’s been spreading in the U.S., weakening our democracy from within. Together, they could guide the world toward a better, less harsh future.
Think about the angry post Trump would make on Truth Social if these two leaders met and shared photos or made a joint statement.
They are exactly the kind of people Trump wishes he were.
