The famous rock star said he is giving Greenlanders free access to all his music, a move meant to stand up against Trump’s repeated talk about taking over the territory.
Young wrote on his website: “This is an offer of Peace and Love,” he wrote, directly to the people of Greenland.
“I hope my music and music films will help reduce some of the stress and threats you’re facing from our disliked and hopefully temporary government.”
The 80-year-old didn’t stop there.
He told Greenlanders they can enjoy all the music he has made over the last 62 years, “in its highest quality,” for free — and they can keep accessing it as long as they stay in Greenland.
“All the music I have made during the last 62 years is yours to hear,” he wrote.
“LOVE EARTH.”
Only people with a Greenland country code can access the music — a clear way of saying this is a gesture of support, not a publicity move.
This comes as Trump keeps talking in a way that treats other countries like property in a game.
It also follows Young’s public disagreement with Amazon and Jeff Bezos, a billionaire who supports Trump. Young said Bezos had “sold out America.”
Bezos has given Trump a lot of money — including funding a $40 million movie about Melania Trump, and a $1 million donation to help Trump start his presidency.
Young has no interest in any of Bezos’ companies right now.
“Amazon is owned by Jeff Bezos, a billionaire who backs the president,” Young wrote.
“The president’s international policies and his support for ICE make it impossible for me to ignore his actions.”
Young encouraged his fans to avoid Amazon, buy music locally, and support small businesses — which is the opposite of Trump’s focus on big money.
After the killing of a mother and poet in Minneapolis by an ICE agent, Young’s words became stronger.
He called on Americans to “stand up” and said of Trump: “He knows nothing about love.”
Neil Young didn’t wave a flag, sell t-shirts, or ask for likes.
He just gave away his entire life’s music to Greenlanders — and sent a message Trump can’t change: Peace. Love. And resistance.
