“I think he should tell the truth under oath about the orders that were given, and I think that the video of the suffering, shipwrecked or hurt people on those boats being bombed, that video should be shown to every American,” Paul said.
Paul has been a strong critic of the Trump administration’s attacks in the Caribbean, especially the recent report that Hegseth ordered the military to launch another strike on people who were still alive after a ship was destroyed.
“Secretary Hegseth said he didn’t know about this, and it didn’t happen.
It was fake news. It didn’t happen,” Paul said earlier this week. “And then the next day, from the podium at the White House, they’re saying it did happen. So, either he was lying to us on Sunday, or he didn’t know it had happened.”
The double-tap scandal has been the main news story all week and is just the latest problem that the very unqualified Hegseth has gotten himself into since becoming secretary.
It was also found out by the Pentagon’s Inspector General that Hegseth’s “Signalgate” issue “created a risk to the safety of American soldiers.” Clearly, he is not fit to be Secretary of Defense.
Paul is calling for Hegseth to testify, and that should be done right away.
If the Secretary did nothing wrong, he has nothing to worry about. But if he decides to lie under oath, he could be charged with lying under oath.
