David Gentile, a man from New York, was found guilty of cheating people by lying about investments. The New York Times said he used his company, GPB Capital, to trick 10,000 investors. He made up stories about how well the investments were doing and where the money for monthly payments came from.
Prosecutors said over 1,000 people told them they lost money.
These victims were ordinary people like small business owners, farmers, veterans, teachers, and nurses.
But since he’s a white collar criminal, Trump, who’s like the top of that kind of crime, gave him a pardon.
Gentile also has ties to the Russian mafia.
A past lawsuit connected him to Michael Cherney, a powerful Russian criminal linked to Putin. Cherney helped start Gentile’s scam and had close relationships with Putin and even lived with his cousin.
This would be a big deal if a Democratic president was in charge, but under Trump, it just shows how criminal behavior is allowed when you have money.
In Trump’s world, money is everything, and crime is okay if you’re rich.
One day, we’ll get justice for all of them.
