But it gets even worse for MAGA.
A YouGov America poll shows that only 32% of Americans disapprove of lawmakers
telling service members they have a legal duty to refuse illegal orders.
That number isn’t surprising, because about a third of the country always supports Trump. They’re so deeply committed to his ideas that they keep digging in instead of thinking again or admitting they might be wrong.
These numbers come as the administration is intensifying its fight against six Democratic lawmakers who released a video urging troops to ignore illegal orders.
Trump has called their comments “sedition” and is pushing for them to be executed.
The Democrats have stayed firm as the MAGA-led FBI interviews them about their remarks and the Pentagon targets former Navy fighter pilot Senator Mark Kelly.
In a joint statement, the lawmakers said, “We swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.
That oath lasts a lifetime, and we intend to keep it. We will not be bullied. We will never give up the ship.” The lawmakers are Senators Elissa Slotkin and Mark Kelly and Representatives Chris Deluzio, Chrissy Houlahan, Maggie Goodlander, and Jason Crow.
Importantly, 50% of independents approved of the Democrats’ message, while only 26% disapproved.
Trump continues to push away this key group of voters, and the midterms are likely to be a big loss for him if this keeps up.
Additionally, 49% of Americans said the lawmakers’ actions weren’t treason, while only 25% called it treason.
26% were unsure. Clearly, Trump’s desperate attempts to use the Justice Department to silence his opponents aren’t working. The American people are tired of his lies.
