McGee was serving as the Director of Strategy, Plans, and Policy on the Pentagon’s Joint Staff but CNN reports that “people familiar with the matter” have revealed that he was “pushed out” after “months of sustained tensions” with Hegseth.
McGee had the courage to stand up to Hegseth’s increasingly destabilizing leadership and “pushed back” on issues ranging from Russia and Ukraine to the murderous military operations in the Caribbean.
The Caribbean strikes in particular have become a flashpoint for this administration. Earlier this month, Admiral Alvin Holsey, Commander of United States Southern Command, announced that he would be retiring after just a year into his tenure. Widespread speculation was that he opposed the White House’s strikes and their drive towards war with Venezuela. While the administration insists that the victims of their boat strikes have been drug smugglers, they’ve provided zero evidence for their claims.
In McGee’s case, he was nominated for a promotion under the Biden administration, but that promotion stalled out under Trump despite a lifetime of sterling service.
“He has had a target on his back for a while now,” one source said.
To date, Hegseth has pushed out over a dozen senior military officials because they failed to march lock-stop with the idiotic, self-defeating MAGA agenda. The most powerful military in the history of the world is being controlled by an alleged alcoholic who’s more interested in facial hair mandates and lecturing generals than he is in keeping our country safe. Every day that Pete Hegseth remains in power is a gift to our adversaries abroad.
