Trump made a rare visit to California and Nevada, which led to political fights with Governor Gavin Newsom, angry reactions on social media, and discussions about why Trump is going there as the 2026 elections come closer.
Trying to get more support from Republicans before the important November elections that will decide who controls Congress, Trump traveled to California and Nevada this week.
Gavin Newsom, who is one of Trump’s biggest political rivals and is leaving his job as California’s governor, criticized Trump after videos of his visit were shared online.

A conservative reporter named Nick Sortor replied, “Watch out, Newsom.
Your boss is coming.47 will be at an RNC event at Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles before returning on Air Force One to go to VEGAS.”
People on social media quickly pointed out this mistake.
One person asked, “When did a governor start reporting to a president?” Another said, “What kind of world does MAGA live in?

Another user warned, “Be careful with those steps, old man,” after seeing Trump appear to limp while walking down to Air Force One.
A White House spokesperson named Olivia Wales said Trump wants to show a big difference between his ideas and the policies of Democrats like Newsom.
She mentioned Trump’s plans to lower taxes, reduce fraud in government programs, and fight immigration and crime.
Trump often insults Newsom and calls him names like “Newscum.” Newsom usually responds by joking about Trump on social media.
The Democratic press office said Trump is in California not to help people who were hurt in wildfires, but to raise money and spread lies about the state.
Newsom said, “More than anything, we hope the president keeps the promise he made on January 24, 2025, to ‘take care of Los Angeles.’ 18 months later, survivors are still waiting.

California Democratic Party leader Rusty Hicks said, “Trump treats California like a personal political target — right up until he needs someone to write a check.” He added, “He may be trying to get some billionaire donors who support his campaign, but the people of California have already shown they don’t want his chaos and corruption.”
