Donald Trump is having a major meltdown after a federal judge decided that he can’t just put his name on the Kennedy Center without getting approval from Congress. Instead of handling it gracefully, he lashed out, attacking the judge’s wife in a harsh way. U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper told Trump’s chosen board of directors to stop using the name “Trump-Kennedy Center” and stopped their planned major renovations. The judge made it clear that Congress, not Trump, has the power to make changes to the institution that honors President John F. Kennedy.
In a lengthy rant on Truth Social last night, Trump claimed that the judge, who was appointed by Obama, should feel “ashamed” and repeatedly mentioned his wife, Amy Jeffress, a former federal prosecutor.
Trump suggested that Cooper ruled against him because “his wife probably told him to” and accused him of having a conflict of interest due to her political views.
He wrote, “Cooper’s wife, Amy Jeffress, who doesn’t use the ‘Cooper’ name because they don’t want people to know she has a conflict of interest with an important judge, is a Radical Left Democrat, who worked as a Federal Prosecutor and Counselor to Obama Attorney General, Eric Holder.”
Trump also called her a “Radical Left Democrat,” bringing up old cases and falsely claiming she was secretly involved with the Jan. 6 committee and represented Joe Biden.
“Judge Cooper also stated that the highly prestigious Board of the Center was not authorized to add on the name ‘TRUMP’ despite the fact that hundreds of millions of dollars of my time and money will be necessary for its successful reincarnation.
So now, the Kennedy Center will collapse, both structurally and financially,” he said. He demanded that Cooper, like many other judges he views as corrupt, should be IMPEACHED.
Trump complained that Judge Cooper is ruling against him just because “his wife is an anti-Trump hater, and he is too.”
He often criticizes his opponents for using the legal system against him, even though he has acted outside the law by trying to rename and change a national cultural landmark out of jealousy for the famous JFK.
Claiming “I didn’t do it, the Board did,” ignores the fact that the board is filled with his supporters, including Maria Bartiromo, Susie Wiles, and Usha Vance.
In a final act of spite, Trump threatened to shut down the Kennedy Center entirely if he couldn’t put his name on it, saying, “The Kennedy Center will soon be closed, probably never to open again.” We doubt that will happen.
This shows how the former president treats his position as if it’s his personal domain, trying to reshape the country in his own cheap and embarrassing style, and he’s losing.
